Our Heritage
An Ultra has no name, only good friends know him well. An Ultra is doesn’t have a face, usually, a hood covers it. An Ultra does not dress like others and does not follow fashion. When walking in the streets even when not wearing distinctive group clothing, you can recognize him. An Ultra only attacks when he is attacked and helps when needed. An Ultra doesn’t stop being an Ultra when he takes his hood off and returns home, he battles seven days a week! Our life is written within a few phrases. Growing up on the terraces and the streets we dedicated our lives to only two things: Anorthosis and Ultras Mentality!
When you wake and sleep and all you think about is the football stadium and when the fucking weekend will come to go with your brothers on the terraces and shout for your team, rather than chasing women behind and doing all the other mainstream bullshit our generation does nowadays, by now you realize how much you differ to everybody else. Waiting impatiently to spend five days in a shit routine to enter the other world, the world where you can express yourself like no other, to the world where you belong. Standing side by side with your brothers on the stand singing until your throat is destroyed. Every time is different and more intense emotion. That’s why we fight for and we have devoted our lives for this purpose, for our pride as Ultras!
Unwritten Rules
These are some of our rules way to get someone to join our Group he must characterize all of the above first and foremost. We do not show off and that’s why we keep a low profile. We are who we are and we don’t care who likes us. We keep our flag of Anorthosis always on top and we always carry with us our proud identities of being Famagustian refugees. What we offer to our team can be seen every week at the football stadium. We do not do it for money, nor for personal viewing, we simply just do it for respect! What brings us moral satisfaction, a feeling that is lost at times and cannot be redeemed with materials or money.
Principles
As a group, we are against everything that tries to harm the greatness of the Phoenix or the organized movement of Anorthosis. We stand as an obstacle to the modernization of football and the commercialization of sports in general. We hate and despise all who use football as a profitable business or as personal monetary gain. Simultaneously we also resist to unfair and unconstitutional anti-terror laws and safety measures imposed by some criminals in uniform, either they are called politicians or police, or sports federation or administration, they all harm do the nation and to all Ultras groups. Even in politics, our position is that inside stadiums and tribunes there should be no political parties! We are all tied together by our common beliefs and ideologies of Anorthosis and we do not like to see the people to be divided because of different political views, nor do we want to be part of the political scene in the stadiums.
Our Story
Our story begins in the summer of 2008 when we decided to create a group that reflects our views and ideas, a group that would also be in charge of all the action and organization of our sector. We wanted the public to not only deal with our team because they are claiming titles or because they are playing well on the football pitch, but we also want them to comment about our sector and our fan’s achievements.
Some of our responsibilities were to improve the organization of our sector whilst also having other tasks like the video recording of our fans on the sector, handling and major events and parties, marketing tasks, the design and creation of banners and flags, creating authentic slogans and football chants that are shouted by our thousands of fans. Our recognition did not take long to come and therefore in 2009 our second very year from our creation, we became an integral part of MAXHTEC. At that point, we earned the right to vote on important decisions regarding the organization of our stand and Anorthosis fans, along with the strongest groups of our tribune.
